Connected in Community is a mental health and wellness practice born out of a desire to provide a safe and comfortable environment for people to grieve, celebrate, and heal despite the complexities of the society we live in. The staff uses a blend of traditional psychotherapy informed by Critical Race Theory, Feminism, Abolition, Queer inclusion, and other liberation-centered ideas to guide their work.
I believe that one of the most healing aspects of therapy is the relationship between therapist and client which is one intended to be that of a traveling companion rather than an "expert"-"advice receiver" relationship. This is why I tend to pay special attention to the formation of that relationship in order to help others explore what matters to them and engage in those values in the face of mental health barriers. I have been a practicing social worker for 5 years providing individual and couples therapy for adults with various mental health and substance use needs. I use a person-centered approach with evidenced-based therapeutic interventions including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy.
