Therapists for college students near Nashville, TN
Hi! My work as a therapist is a blending of psychology and philosophy, and commonly covers religious trauma and deconstruction, LGBTQ+ clients, self-esteem & shame, relationship issues & couples therapy, life transitions, ENM clients, anxiety & obsessive thoughts, and many more areas. I welcome the opportunity to work with anyone who is curious about their experience and interested in change. I recognize the profound courage it takes to confront one’s inner world, and I strive to create a safe, affirming, and open space for genuine exploration. If you’re seeking meaningful conversations about the essence and complexity of being human and what it is to be a conscious animal on a giant rock flying through space, I am the therapist for you. I am a compassionate therapist, here to listen, understand, and guide individuals on their journey toward acceptance and change. My mission is to support clients in their quest for growth, self-discovery, and transformation, and to to help clients confront and embrace the inherent uncertainties of life, fostering resilience and a deeper sense of purpose.
Hi, I’m Ryan! If you’re living with ADHD, autism, trauma, OCD, sleep issues, or a brain that just never seems to turn off, you aren’t alone. Maybe you’ve felt this way your whole life, or maybe you’re facing new circumstances that have highlighted difficulties you didn’t know were there. Many people I work with feel exhausted from holding it all together, frustrated by procrastination or sensory overload, or overwhelmed by anxiety and emotions that feel bigger than they can manage. Our sessions give you a nonjudgmental space to slow down so you understand what’s happening develop helpful perspectives that support your mind and body. I also built a free app called Between Sessions: Reflect — a private space to track your feelings and hold onto the insights we work through together. I specialize in neurodivergence and have a deep understanding of how co-occurring conditions like OCD and trauma can add stress and anxiety to your days - while disruptive nighttime routines and racing thoughts contribute to insomnia and sleep difficulties. Together, these dynamics create negative patterns that can leave you feeling stuck and unhappy. The good news is that things can change! I utilize a scientific approach to therapy that first seeks to understand the unique ways you think, feel, and learn. Together, we’ll use this information to create a custom treatment plan with targeted strategies like ERP/I-CBT for OCD, CBT-I for insomnia, CPT for trauma, and more – adapted just for you.

She has worked with the Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence, The Sexual Assault Center, and Catholic Charities of Middle Tennessee providing crisis support as well as trauma-focused treatment for children, teens, adults, and families. She offers supportive and non-judgmental observations as well as strengths-based support for her clients. She enjoys working with clients of all identities and values each person’s lived experience. Corisa’s goal is to offer a therapeutic space of connection and always aims to move at the client’s own pace to tap into the resiliency and capacity for growth that resides within them. Whether clients are wanting to grow their skills in coping with life’s many challenges, to know themselves more fully, or to seek healing from trauma, Corisa is glad to meet clients in this space and feels honored to be able to collaborate with individuals and families on their therapy journey. Corisa is an EMDR certified clinician and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SE) that is also trained in Theraplay, CPC-CBT, TF-CBT and often integrates elements of parts work (IFS), sandplay, play therapy, and other attachment, trauma-informed, and brain and body connecting approaches that best meet clients where they are. She believes that the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is an integral part of the therapeutic journey and having a good fit where clients feel safe, comfortable, and respected is of the utmost importance to her. When not in session, Corisa can be found practicing yoga at her neighborhood studio, birding in a local park, taking in a new independent film, or off exploring local restaurants and dives. Outside of that, she loves spending time outside as often as possible and is always planning her next travel destination with friends or with her partner in their built-out transit van.
Sometimes it's tough to go it alone. It takes a lot of courage to reach out for help and support, whether we're dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, gender identity, sexual orientation, or general life stress. Kudos to you for taking the first step. I work primarily with adolescents and young adults, and together we figure out a plan on how to move through whatever's going on. You know more than you think you do - and we will navigate the challenges together.
Life is too short to stay stuck in behaviors, relationships, and patterns that detract rather than enhance our lives. At some point in all of our lives, we are likely to find ourselves stagnant and in need of a change, unsure which direction to go in a time of transition, or just dissatisfied and maybe not even sure why. It can be difficult to know where and how to begin the journey to change and growth. Or even to know what you want that change to be right now. If this resonates with you, know that you are not the only one! Therapy can provide the structure and support to identify what isn't working for you, what you would like to do about it, and how to create the change you want for yourself. I love working with adolescents and adults who are curious about how life could be better for them and committed to the work it takes to find meaning, peace, and satisfaction. Making the decision to seek the support of a therapist takes courage and can be really daunting. Get to know more about me, my approach, and if I might be a good fit for your needs by visiting my website. Or (deep breath) giving me a call. I'd love to hear from you!
Are you stressing over a big life transition coming up? Are you feeling overwhelmed with racing thoughts and don’t know what to do next? Life can be overwhelming, and a lot of us could use someone to work through it with. Therapy can provide that safe place to talk through whatever you’re facing and to find a healthy way to move ahead. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, self-esteem issues, or navigating relationships, I offer individualized support and tools to help you with your specific needs. The foundation for therapy is building the relationship with a client in a trusting, safe environment. Just choosing to start the therapeutic journey can be a difficult decision, so know that I will come along beside you on the path to finding growth and healing.
I aim to create a safe space for you to bring your whole self to therapy. I have been often told that there is a presence about me that makes folks feel understood. I use evidence-based approaches like CBT and ACT to help you understand and respond to your emotions so that you feel less overwhelmed and more free. I specialize in depression, anxiety, relationship problems, and eating disorders. We will also work together to increase mindfulness and self-compassion. As a member of the LGBT community, I have a special expertise in serving LGBTQ clients as well as poly and kink communities. Whether you are navigating a complicated political climate, reducing shame and growing in pride and self-acceptance, or exploring new pronouns or identity labels, I will be with you all the way!
Right now you may be overwhelmed by spiraling thoughts and debilitating fear -- struggling to process your emotions. People see you as smart and successful, but inside you feel like you're barely hanging on. You’d like to understand yourself more and learn skills that help you feel stronger and healthier. This is the work that I do. I specialize in helping smart, caring women who struggle with anxiety learn to find more balance. Clients who’ve worked with me have reported that they understand themselves better, struggle less, and feel more at ease overall. They've learned to treat themselves with more kindness than criticism, and to shift from self-destructive to life-giving behaviors. They’ve learned to handle their emotions more effectively (especially fear, anger, and sadness), to listen to their own voice (how they feel, what they like, what they want), and to feel more like themselves. People who've worked with me in counseling have described me as gentle, down-to-earth, funny, and flexible. I am thoughtful and love to read, and to bring to my work a lot of skills and stories from varied sources. I’m also artsy and creative, and love to adapt metaphors and strategies that apply uniquely and directly to clients’ lives. As a therapist, I’m not so much interested in “fixing problems” as in coming alongside you to listen and to share honestly what stands out and what might help. I welcome people with diverse backgrounds and identities. I believe in growth and development across the lifespan and that we are *always* in the process of becoming. With nearly two decades of experience and extensive training as a therapist, I am passionate about highlighting women’s voices and stories and feelings. What I love about my work as a therapist is finding ways to help women be exactly who they already are, which I believe, paradoxically, is the path toward healing and change.
I specialize in working with individuals who feel overwhelmed by intrusive thoughts, compulsive behaviors, excessive worry, and phobias. I utilize evidence based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP) and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT). As a clinician, I aim to create a collaborative, non judgmental, and supportive space where you can confront your fears, build resilience, and move toward a life that reflects your values—not your anxiety.
Many of my clients report feeling "stuck". Stuck in relationships, jobs, school, families, past trauma, thoughts, feelings, behaviors, etc. I feel honored to partner with my clients to make individualized plans to help you reach the goals that you have for your life.
I am a mental health counselor with experience working with a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, life transitions, and marital counseling. My greatest passion and experience is with working with those experiencing grief. While I see clients of many different faith traditions and none, I am trained in Christian integration for those that wish to discuss their faith in relation to their current or past struggles.
Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, worry, and insecurity, frustrated with themselves for repeating patterns that get in the way of having meaningful relationships. When you’re feeling stuck and hopeless, it’s especially hard to feel compassion for yourself. One of the beautiful things about therapy is that it is a space where someone else can hold compassion and hope for you until you are able to hold it for yourself. In the context of a nurturing, supportive relationship it is not only possible to resolve pain, but to reclaim a life of creativity, meaning, connection, and authenticity. Therapy is about gaining insight, but it’s also about developing skills that allow you to be more resilient and grounded. I have a passion for supporting people in working through complex trauma, anxiety, and family of origin issues. I love what I do, and that comes through in the care I provide.
