Therapists for college students near Portland, OR
"I am a failure." -"I am broken." -"I have nothing to offer." -"If I make changes, everyone will hate me." -"I can't change." ...Do these sound familiar? You've been trying to solve everything on your own but you're feeling stuck. You really need a space where you can talk through ALL of the jumbled up thoughts and feelings inside, because you're starting to feel like a pressure cooker. I'm a LGBTQIA+ and relationship affirming therapist specializing in trans and nonbinary wellness. I'm experienced with providing counseling to folks across the lifespan, and in and around the gender binary. I'm a staunch believer that all people have the resources inside themselves to make changes toward becoming ever more healthy, connected, and complex. The focus of my approach is self-acceptance. This means that I'm not going to push you to talk about things you're not ready to talk about yet. Instead, we'll make space for you to examine YOUR process toward making the changes YOU want in your life--because it's about damn time. And "I can't change" is, well, bullsh*t.
Hi! I’m Brittany with Active Counseling and Therapy. We are all unique. Each and every person has their own life experiences, expectations about life, and goals for life that influence their life lens and decision making. However, when our expectations become misaligned with our current experiences, we may feel anxious, depressed, or lack self esteem. These can trigger difficulties with romantic, familial, and friendly relationships. It is my goal to help you capitalize on your strengths and take steps to live the life of your dreams. I utilize a Person-Centered Approach that aligns with my philosophy and belief that every individual is different. While I do draw more often from tenets of Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), other modalities may be incorporated with a heavy influence on a strengths-based approach. Let’s get moving toward reaching your goals!
Are you tired of being tired? Have you ever wonder if there is more to life than just mere survival? Are you struggling with depression, anxiety, stress or relationship problems and not sure how therapy can help? You are not alone. I have been a practicing psychotherapist for over 11 years and have assisted many clients from diverse backgrounds with some, at the root, very fundamental issues of existence including meaning, isolation and choice. Psychotherapy is not only meaningful work for me, but a craft that necessitates continuous personal and professional growth. I look forward to hearing from you and working together
Hello! My name is Hannah Fisher and I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner at Willamette Health & Wellness in Portland. I provide medication management along with supportive therapy for a variety of patients. I really enjoy working with college students and would be honored to help guide you through whatever it is you are needing some extra support with at the moment.
You might be here because something inside you feels tangled, uncertain, or out of reach. Maybe you’re trying to navigate the weight of anxiety, low motivation, or a mood that shifts in ways you can’t always predict. Maybe you’re carrying grief, confusion around identity, or a deep sense that parts of your story haven’t been fully understood. Whatever led you here, there’s space for it and support as you navigate what comes next. I specialize in working with adults across Oregon who are navigating: - Anxiety, overthinking, or a persistent sense of unease - Depression or feelings of disconnection and emptiness - Bipolar disorder and emotional shifts that feel hard to manage - PTSD and the lingering impact of past trauma - Identity exploration, especially for queer and trans individuals - Grief, loss, and major life transitions - Relationship challenges and self-esteem concerns My approach is affirming, trauma-informed, and centered on helping you build insight and compassion for yourself and the systems that have shaped your experience.
I help college students cope with mental health challenges that get in the way of school and relationships. Having too much self-control, or overcontrol, makes it hard to enjoy life and connect meaningfully with others. It’s exhausting to feel like you’re always ‘on’, performing, or wearing a mask. Overcontrol can lead to problems like anxiety, depression, disordered eating, obsessive-compulsive behaviors, and intimacy avoidance. You don’t have to struggle alone–I’ve been a therapist working with LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and other overcontrolled folks for over 10 years. Together, we can get you unstuck. Using practical (and fun!) research-validated strategies, you’ll learn to harness your self-control as a strength and break free from patterns that burn you out. Finding a therapist who gets you can be stressful. Let’s make this process easier for you: email me, call me, or visit waveways.org, and we’ll schedule a free consultation to discuss your hopes and needs.

I love working with young people as they get to know themselves, embark on new opportunities, and grapple with difficult emotional and relational challenges. Sometimes people notice that unresolved grief or trauma comes up for them during a life transition and I am here to support. I offer a welcoming, non judgmental space to talk through what is coming up for you. Change and healing is hard and you shouldn't have to do it alone.
At Sakura Counseling, we aspire to create an environment that is all inclusive and provides a safe space for diversity in all forms to untangle the challenges that have been holding you back from being authentically you. We are collaborative in our approach, holding high regard for your experience in your environment, paying close attention to the many systems of our society that play a part in perpetuating oppression. We believe in creating collaborative healing relationships where your therapist will work with you to figure out the changes you want to make, then create an attainable, realistic plan of healing. We will then prepare you for the changes to come and develop tools needed to successfully integrate those changes into your current environment. We believe that you are the expert of your experiences and needs, so throughout our collaboration, we aim to allow you to feel free of guilt and shame and safe to be wholly, authentically you as you gain strength of understanding, while building new methods to cope and overcome. As a group practice, we have the ability to provide therapy for most issues with specialized areas of Trauma, Social Justice, Multi-cultural concerns, Anxiety, Suicide, Grief and Loss, Domestic Violence, Couples Relationship Repair...just to name a few. Taking the initial steps to finding support is so difficult! I aim to make this process as supportive as possible and understand not every personality will match. I am happy to provide a free 15 min consult to see if we may be a good match. I view counseling as an opportunity for growth in personal health and self-discovery during times of transition, change, and unknown certainties. The counseling room is a place of openness with no judgement. I come from a Person Centered Theoretical background, meaning there is unconditional care for every aspect of your experience. I support clients in evaluating their thought processes, the actions that follow, and if that is meeting their needs or not. I I offer support around Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Adjustment, Gender Identity, PTSD, Trauma, Stress and Self Esteem. I approach therapy from a variety of theories depending on what each person needs with the foundation of Person Centered care and unconditional positive regard.
*I am licensed in both Oregon and California, and can work with students who often travel between these two states.* When the difficult experiences from your past are still impacting you, it is hard to know what to do. You don’t feel like yourself anymore, and the people in your life are starting to notice. It’s coming out at school, in your relationships, in your mood. You might be thinking “I just want to move on with my life. Why can’t I just get over it already?” But no matter how many times you try to move on, you still feel stuck. You are not alone. I help people who have been through difficult childhood, sexual, and relationship experiences look at how their experiences have shaped them, and explore how to take back their lives from the memories that have burdened them for so long. Together, we will build a trusting relationship where you can feel safe enough to explore what happened in your life, the ways you have survived, and how to get unstuck so you can move toward a life that is ruled by you, and not by the past. I know reaching out to begin therapy can be an overwhelming experience. I offer a free 15-20 minute consultation, where you can share a bit about what you would like to work on, ask me any questions you may have, and we can determine whether I might be a good fit for your needs. Please feel free to visit my website to learn more and schedule a consultation. I'm looking forward to meeting you!

My work with clients is centered around helping people to find the balance in their life. We take time to get to know each each other and to set up the goals that are important to you. You chose the pace at which we move, while I offer suggestions and share observations. Our sessions will provide a safe space for you to share as much or as little as you like. Through discussion and exercises we can get you to feel joy again.

Your feelings are valid, and I’m here to help you discover the strength and clarity within yourself.
I am a licensed psychologist who specializes in the treatment of anxiety disorders and relationship issues. Even more specifically, my specialty rests in helping women navigate the anxiety and overwhelm that arises when they think about saying no, setting boundaries, or expressing their true opinions. Many of my clients are exhausted from agreeing to things they don’t want to do, staying in relationships out of obligation or fear, or managing a busy social life that leaves them feeling unfulfilled and ultimately disconnected. As an attachment-based therapist, I work with women to uncover the roots of these patterns in their relationships, helping them get grounded in their values and build the courage to show up authentically. My approach helps to create context for conditioned behaviors and beliefs so that clients find their voice, face the fear of speaking their truth, and experience the freedom of being unapologetically themselves and more aligned with their values. I take a holistic approach to treatment, combining somatic work, nervous system regulation, and relational therapy. My work also incorporates nutrition and movement to support overall wellness, empowering clients to align their physical, emotional, and relational health. I completed my applied graduate training at Portland State University's Student Health and Counseling Center as a psychologist intern and was employed there as a part-time psychologist before opening my private practice. My residency was completed at Reed College Health and Counseling Center and I have also had the wonderful opportunity to complete early field work training at University of Portland's Health and Counseling Center. I love working with college students and it is a joy to be able to provide students with the opportunity for longer-term psychotherapy.
I aim to create an environment that is respectful, supportive, and collaborative. My approach to therapy is primarily based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). A core idea in ACT is that trying too hard to get rid of or control our emotions tends to backfire. Thus, instead of trying to get rid of unwanted thoughts, feelings, or emotions, I will help you learn to react differently to them so that you can keep your focus on living a meaningful and fulfilling life based on what’s important to you. This type of approach places your values at the center of therapy. Using your values and existing strengths as a foundation, we will work together to set meaningful goals to address your concerns –whether they relate to life transitions, depression, anxiety, body image, grief/loss, job or academic stress, or gender and sexuality. I have extensive training in working with transgender and gender diverse adults, youth, and families. Transgender clients seeking assessment or counseling services can expect a safe space, and respectful, non-pathologizing, collaborative care. If you are looking for someone to work with regarding gender identity and exploration, I can provide education, support, preparation, and, if indicated, reports/letters for surgery.
