Therapists for college students near New York University
As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I bring considerable expertise to my position as a provider in an outpatient substance abuse clinic. With a solid background in psychiatric emergency room and inpatient care, I have refined my abilities over 7 years in high-patient volume settings. This experience has equipped me to better recognize and attend to the needs of individuals struggling with substance abuse, anxiety, depression, and general psychiatric disorders.
I am a New York and CT Licensed Clinical Social Worker helping adults aged 18 and older. I have experience helping people develop coping skills to address overwhelming emotions, refrain from acting impulsively, find balance, improve relationships, navigate transitions in life and work toward personal goals. I work with clients in a person-centered approach to work towards goals, handle stressors, and develop methods of caring for one’s self.
I specialize in working with young adults navigating anxiety, people-pleasing, perfectionism and relationship challenges. You might be feeling overwhelmed or disconnected, even if things look “fine” on the outside. Maybe you find yourself constantly taking care of others while your own needs go unmet. My goal is to offer a space where you feel seen and supported as you explore patterns that are keeping you stuck and reconnect with what matters most to you.
The clients I work best with are those who feel overwhelmed by their emotions and are looking for creative ways to express themselves. Many struggle with anxiety, self-doubt, or past experiences that feel difficult to put into words. They often have a hard time adjusting to new experiences, managing relationship challenges, or coping with the stress of school and balancing responsibilities. My approach provides a supportive space to explore these feelings, helping clients build self-awareness, resilience, and confidence in their ability to navigate life’s challenges.
I believe this stage of life is an exciting time full of growth, challenges, and new experiences. But it can also bring stress, uncertainty, and pressure to figure it all out. My goal is to provide a supportive, judgment-free space where students can feel heard, understood, and empowered to thrive. I take a collaborative, student-centered approach, helping you build practical skills to manage stress, improve your mental health, strengthen relationships, and stay aligned w/ your goals and values. Together, we’ll work on strategies that fit your lifestyle—so you can feel more confident, resilient, and ready to take on what’s next.
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and therapist, providing support and guidance to LGBTQ+ folks who often don’t see themselves represented in the world around them or reflected in their search for the right-fit therapist. While I regularly help folks work through depression, anxiety, and trauma, we also freely discuss other topics that might not otherwise feel comfortable, including sex, faith, and the impact of diet culture. Nothing is off limits. I also regularly work with neurodivergent folks, especially around the emotional impact of ADHD, and exploring autistic identity. I am licensed in both New York and Wisconsin, and see clients throughout both states through video sessions.
In my years of experience I have come to realize so much about living in the world robs us of our ability to acknowledge our own magic. Therapy should be a safe place for you to begin to reclaim that magic and learn how to discover your own power. By using a "bottom to top" approach to identify how long held, negative beliefs, have kept you reliving and repeating the past, you can finally live in the present. I provide a safe, non judgemental space for you to work through trauma and reclaim the power inherent in you.
If you are looking for guidance with anxiety, ADHD, or relationships, it takes courage to ask for help. Admitting you can’t do everything on your own, is the first step toward achieving wellness in a fast paced, demanding world. The good news is, asking for help gets easier with a little practice. The way in which we cope in the world is greatly influenced by how we see the world. Asking for help, and obtaining a fresh perspective is often the first and most profound step toward developing the mental muscle needed to become stronger. As an experienced psychologist, it’s my honor to assist you in exploring core issues & move toward a healthy, fulfilling life. Utilizing a variety of approaches including Cognitive-Behavioral, Family Systems, Integrative, Person Centered, Solution-Focused Therapy, I will work with you to create a treatment that's customized to meet your unique circumstances. With honesty and compassion I will work with you to create an open channel of communication. We will work on the skill of self-compassion, which will allow you to move more easily through difficult times in the future, as well as become a more productive and happier person.
My clients say that they find my honest, warm, and straightforward approach to be refreshing and helpful. Together, we can develop effective strategies to help you embrace life fully, fostering a sense of control and freedom. I specialize in supporting adults and teens, particularly those who identify as LGBTQIA+ or performing artists, who are feeling anxious, sad, and overwhelmed. My approach helps manage anxiety, depression, ADHD, insomnia, and OCD, offering thoughtful conversations and practical tools to get you back to living fully. I have been in private practice for over thirty years in the same location. Over the years I have worked extensively with adolescents and young adults transitioning from high school to college. The services I have provided included both psychotherapy and evaluation services (i.e. ADHD, learning disabilities). I frequently provide ongoing support for clients who began with me in high school and successfully entered into college, but who want or need help addressing the unique challenges that college presents, and moving into post-college life.
If you’re looking to have the space to explore issues and experiences that have impacted your life, I may be a good fit for you! I work with individuals struggling to navigate mood disorders, anxiety, history of trauma, and interpersonal distress. Additionally, as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I have first-hand experience with the challenges and fears that come with developing, growing, and accepting your identity. I believe healing can happen through processing your experiences and receiving empathy, support, and honest feedback. My approach to therapy includes using skills from CBT, DBT, and CPT to help understand and change thoughts and behaviors. Together we will work to create a deeper understanding of unhelpful patterns that may be present in your life. I will aim to gently push you out of your comfort zone in order to avoid repeating these patterns. Finding the right therapist for you can be difficult and take time. Hello, I help people with gaining clarity and understanding of themselves, their future, purpose, and meaning. Additionally, I can be helpful dealing with challenges in the present that get in the way of getting where you want to go. Sometimes it can be difficult to connect with our brigheness or gold and it takes an exploration of what is dark or shadowy in our lives or in ourselves to get to a place where we can shine once again. I have experience with this as well. Please reach out to ask any questions or find out more about what I have to offer.
I am a Clinical Psychologist and a psychoanalyst, specializing in work with individuals suffering from mood disorders, addiction, trauma, and identity issues. I have a sensitivity for the dilemmas of young adults as they struggle to find "true self" expression integrated with the demands for compromise and conformity they face, both externally and internally. Hi! I work best with clients who are figuring out who they are, where they belong, and how to navigate stress, relationships, and big life changes. Many of the people I support come from multicultural, multiracial, Indigenous, LGBTQIA+, or immigrant backgrounds, and are looking for a space where all parts of their identity are understood and respected. You might be dealing with anxiety, family pressure, identity questions, or feeling overwhelmed balancing everything. Some clients I work with are also navigating the impact of immigration experiences, acculturation stress, or racial trauma, whether from personal experiences, family history, or systemic challenges. These experiences can shape how you see yourself and move through the world, and you do not have to process them alone. You do not have to have it all figured out. Therapy can be a place to slow down, make sense of your experiences, and find ways to move forward that feel right for you. In sessions, we will look at both the deeper parts of your story and practical tools to help you feel better day to day. I often use a mix of approaches, including exploring patterns from your past, building coping strategies, and working on how your thoughts and feelings connect. My style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in respect for your lived experience. I aim to create a space where you feel safe being fully yourself, no pressure, no judgment, just support as you grow, heal, and navigate this stage of life.
