Therapists for college students near University of Colorado Boulder
Fundamentally, my aim is to support my clients in contacting their inner self-knowing, and "make friends" with all of the various parts of themselves in the warmth and security of this inner space. To achieve this, I practice person-centered therapy, with a strong emphasis on somatic awareness. When working with clients, I am listening for "what wants to be heard" that day. In my view, I am a supportive and curious observer, and my job is to reflect back to my client what I am seeing. My style tends to be more direct, and I regularly encourage my clients to take ownership over their treatment and to trust themselves. In a first session with me, we explore where you've been, where you are, and where you would like to go. Often, I invite people to tell me their story and then describe their current situation. We will work together to assess what feels like the most supportive areas of focus, and will create some goals which guide our future sessions. During this process, however, you can still expect curiousity, empowerment, and validation. What's most important in any session is establishing a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship.
Welcome! I have a passion for helping individuals navigate life's challenges and find healing through talk therapy. With a commitment to tailoring therapeutic approaches to each client's unique needs. I specialize in trauma, personal growth, anxiety, grief and loss, and have experience working with teens, young adults, and parents. Clients can expect a warm, empathetic, and collaborative therapeutic journey, where the focus is on exploring individual strengths, fostering resilience, and achieving a greater sense of well-being. I employ a person-centered and holistic approach to therapy, placing a strong emphasis on creating a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to explore their experiences. I believe in the power of talk therapy to facilitate self-discovery, promote emotional well-being, and support personal growth. I work with innovative and creative therapeutic techniques, incorporating art, reading, personal growth activities, and other expressive modalities to provide clients with alternative avenues for expression and healing. I believe in the power of creativity to unlock new perspectives and facilitate transformative experiences.
I provide meaning-centered counseling for individuals navigating trauma, chronic pain, and long-standing stress. My practice is grounded in the belief that experiences are held not only as memories or thoughts, but also within the nervous system as patterns shaped over time. When appropriate, I integrate body-based tools and insight-oriented approaches, supporting students who may understand their experiences intellectually yet continue to feel trapped in how their body responds. Work is paced, collaborative, and attentive to context, readiness, and lived experience rather than quick symptom fixes. My services are offered through in-person sessions in Frisco, Texas, and via secure telehealth across the state. My private practice is self-pay. For those wanting to use insurance, I also see clients through Legacy Trails Therapy, where select plans are accepted under supervisory billing. This can be discussed during consultation.

My ideal client is motivated to improve their quality of life and may struggle with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and grief/trauma related issues. They are interested in understanding themselves and cultivating healthy coping strategies to deal with the challenges of our modern world, with the ultimate goal of thriving, not just surviving. They understand that we all have the opportunity to continue growing and want to live a more self-expressed life by identifying and challenging negative and self-limiting thinking patterns. I compassionately support and validate my clients, while also encouraging them to take on the challenges in their life. I have significant experience with mindfulness practices and believe in the power of creativity (writing, music, art) as a therapeutic tool. My approach to mental health counseling and high performance psychology does not focus simply on getting rid of challenges and difficulty, but rather aspires to honor what is good and right about you, and what makes each day worth living according to your beliefs, identities, values, and enriching relationships. Ultimately, I hope to help students like you move towards empowering the identities and values most important to you, building enriching relationships, and thriving in your chosen passions. I offer in person services in Lawrence, KS, and telehealth services across 42 states (https://psypact.gov/page/psypactmap). I have extensive experience and passion working with undergraduate and graduate students, including student-athletes, and students who identify as autistic and/or have been diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum. My aim is to provide a space that invites exploration of challenging yet vital places of growth in the service of what is most important to you in your life and performance space. In particular, I love supporting students' resilience to shame ("not enoughness"), self-criticism, pressure to be perfect, social and performance anxiety, body image concerns, grief and loss, panic, and trauma. At my core, I am inspired by feminist and multicultural approaches to healing that seek to interrupt systems of oppression that impact you. From that core, I use trauma-informed, evidence-based methods like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and self-compassion to support you in taking action towards what matters even in the presence of challenge. Finding a good fit is so vital to your counseling or sport psychology wants, and can be such an emotionally taxing journey. After an initial meeting, if you don't feel there is a great fit between us, I will work hard to connect you to people who may be a better fit for you. Let's make this process as stress-free and successful for your needs as we can.

My mission as a professional counselor is simple: Create a safe and respectful space where my clients can honestly explore, and learn from their personal stories. It is a true honor and privilege to facilitate these personal moments of discovery, that are often raw, difficult and challenging. My areas of focus are those who may be struggling with issues relating to depression, anxiety, grief and loss and life transitions. I also work with young adults in assisting them in facing challenges such as: negative body image, lack of confidence and self esteem, pressures around academics and friendships, loneliness, and future employment concerns While I utilize a variety of counseling techniques depending upon the situation including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, these are simply means to an end. I’ve learned my clients are seeking someone who listens, and guides them to a path of discovery and healing.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I specialize in working with adolescents and young adults who struggle with emotional dysregulation that can lead to impulsive behaviors or avoidance. My work focuses on helping clients develop emotional awareness, increase psychological flexibility, and cultivate self-compassion while building practical tools for meaningful, lasting change. I bring over ten years of experience in community mental health, two years spent in a full-time position at Western Colorado University’s Counseling Center, where I provided individual counseling to students. As both a former WCU therapist and an alumni of the same school, I have a deep appreciation for the unique challenges students in a small mountain community can face and the support they deserve. My therapeutic approach is integrative and holistic, drawing from evidence-based modalities including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). I also incorporate principles from interpersonal neurobiology and attachment theory to create a supportive, grounded, and collaborative environment. I am trained in EMDR and can integrate this more structured approach to trauma processing if requested or recommended. I’m passionate about this work because I believe in the healing power of the therapeutic relationship and in every person’s capacity for growth. Together, we can create a space that fosters resilience, insight, and meaningful change.
