Therapists for college students near University of Texas at Austin
Do you ever feel like no matter how hard you try, you are unable to see yourself as more than a body? That diet culture is so deeply ingrained in our society that it feels impossible to escape? You are not alone. We live in a world that has convinced us that pursuing an unrealistic thin ideal is the key to happiness. That if we "work hard enough," that void we constantly feel, will eventually go away. That's why my goal is to help you reach a place of acceptance so that you can experience a more fulfilling life, free from diet culture and the toxicity that ensues. I specialize in treating children (as young as 10), adolescents, and adults struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating, body dysmorphia, and other related disorders. As a bilingual therapist, I am able to conduct therapy sessions in Spanish. While my primary specialty is eating disorders, I also help individuals better cope with anxiety, manage life transitions, and develop a healthier sense of self. I believe that in order to fully heal, we must get to the root cause - exploring childhood trauma and interpersonal relationships is a big part of the work I do with my clients.

I have also worked with a variety of individuals including those diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, families dealing with substance abuse/alcoholism, and those exposed to neighborhood violence. I believe in whole person connection and healing. Every part of our lives are intertwined together. When one part is out of balance, all the others will be as well. This is the approach I take to counseling. Lets focus on your mind, your body, and your spirit and enact small adjustment to change your life. I am a certified integrative nutrition health coach and a fitness instructor. I have been working with individuals for more than 5 years to reach their health and wellness goals. My passion is helping people reach their goals. It can be tough. Having the right tools helps exponentially. I work with my clients to help them find the areas of their lives that are out of balance and getting them back to a healthy place. Being vulnerable can be scary and challenging, but committing to the work and making small changes can make all the difference. Reach out today!

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. My name is Megan. I am a therapist-in-training at SolHealth and am excited to begin working together! I would like to take a moment to introduce myself and share a bit about what you can expect as we begin sessions together. I am a first-year master’s degree student in the Mental Health Counseling program at City College of New York. I received an interdisciplinary degree in Science, Technology, and Society where I focused on Psychology, Sociology, and Cultural Studies at Farmingdale State College. I have previously interned in schools where I worked with populations experiencing anxiety and difficulties with life transitions. I also worked as an ABA therapist where I specialized in working with clients with developmental disabilities. My primary modalities of therapy are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Adlerian Therapy. My therapeutic approach incorporates: mindfulness exercises to help with stress management, reducing stress and anxiety, overcoming depression, developing self-compassion, and creating a meaningful life for yourself. I believe in exploring an individual’s past and present while empowering them in a safe, non-judgmental, and collaborative space. Megan Pinzel is a therapist-in-training at Sol Health. Therapy only works if it actually feels right, and finding the right fit can be the hardest part. I try to make that easy. You will know pretty quickly if this is a space where you can breathe out, be honest, and start doing real work. I am a bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas (English and Spanish). I work with teens, young adults, and adults on anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, identity and self-esteem, ADHD, burnout, career stress, and the kind of cultural stress that comes from living between worlds. My style is warm, person-centered, and collaborative. We move at a sustainable pace, look honestly at the patterns underneath what you are bringing in, and build practical tools you can actually use between sessions. I was born in Mexico and moved to Texas when I was young. I welcome clients from all backgrounds and bring particular fluency to first-gen, Latinx, and LGBTQ+ experiences, along with anyone who has ever felt not quite at home in other people's categories. If that sounds like what you are looking for, reach out.
Are you feeling stuck? Are you having trouble shifting from who your parents see you as to who you really are? College age years can be very difficult. You’re trying to figure out who you are, what makes you unique, and how to navigate the fears of being an adult. I can help.
Since 2006, I have worked as a counselor in Louisiana (LPC 3780), Kansas (LCPC 2416), Virginia (LPC 0701008990), and Texas (LPC 86508). Currently, I work with adults who feel stuck whether navigating anxiety, depression, CPTSD, trauma, family challenges, identity, or major transitions. They want relief, self-understanding, hope, and healthier ways to cope. Most of all, they want to feel heard, supported, and capable of moving forward with confidence. I specialize in working with diverse clients, including military families, trauma survivors, those managing both mental health, and substance use. My humanistic, collaborative style helps you uncover strengths, build resilience, and develop practical tools. Together, we’ll create space for healing and real change. I know reaching out takes courage and you don’t have to do it alone. In our work, we’ll honor your unique experiences and create a safe space to explore challenges at your pace. If you’re ready to take that next step, I’d be honored to walk alongside you in your journey toward growth.
I help young adults who feel out of control of their lives. Stressed Out. Overwhelmed. Not quite sure how this whole adulting thing works. Trying to balance school, work, family, friends, and relationships. My clients struggle like you do. Despite being smart, driven, and funny, life is hard. When clients first come in, they may not feel enjoyment in the same activities they used to love. They may tend to mindlessly watch Youtube instead of completing their to-do list. They feel so stressed that they don’t finish tasks, and then beat themselves up for not completing it. The cycle continues as they feel worse and worse. My clients come into therapy looking for support, avoid doing things they used to love, have trouble connecting with family and friends, and find themselves second guessing their decisions. Choices may seem overwhelming, as if one wrong move sends them back to square one. They can’t sleep at night and have trouble completing assignments for college. In counseling, clients and I work together to see their choices in a wider lens and find ways that they are in control. We come up with plans to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Please contact me if you’re ready to take control of your life and be the person you want to be.
Knowing from an early age that I wanted to connect with people on a deeper level, a career in counseling became a must. I was born and grew up in Belgium and moved to the states as a pre-teen, which was a tough transition at times. I quickly discovered my love for connecting with others was no different on the other side of the world. This strengthened my belief that cultural background, race, sex, age, etc does not make a difference in our suffering but that there is hope for each one of us. I quickly discovered my love for connecting with others was no different on the other side of the world. This strengthened my belief that cultural background, race, sex, age, etc does not make a difference in our suffering but that there is hope for each one of us. It is my belief that the difficulties that we face stem from our inner dialogue and extreme responses in acknowledgment to triggering situations. It is my goal to help the client explore such thoughts and reactions by developing coping skills and new ways of thinking in order for the client to feel more at ease and happier in life. I previously had the privilege of leading groups for those suffering from alcohol and drug addiction, as well as emotional dysregulation issues, and have discovered an appreciation for walking through such a challenging time with the client. It is my hope to do the same for you.

"I feel broken and I'm pissed about it." You were independent, high achieving, organized. Then you got the medical diagnosis, and everything changed. If you have been through a stressful or traumatic medical illness, you know firsthand the challenges of building a care team that you trust and coming into a new relationship with your body. My role is to partner with you as you face these challenges. If you are caregiving for individuals as they move through physical changes, it can be difficult to find balance. I can help you find your footing as you navigate caring for self and other, face difficult medical decisions, or move through anticipatory grief in the context of potentially complex relationship dynamics. "I just want to get back to normal." "What does it even mean to 'live with' this? How can they say that?" "This is happening on top of everything else! I don't have time to slow down, I'm in pain, and I can't sleep." "I had trauma before. This just makes dealing with it harder." These thoughts and reactions are not uncommon. Individualized, trauma-informed psychotherapy can help. To learn more, please reach out for a free phone consultation. I am happy to address any questions or concerns you may have prior to initiating therapy, and I look forward to meeting you soon.
