Therapists for college students near University of Pittsburgh
We all strive for success in our lives. How we function as parents, professionals, students, or children is shaped by a delicate interaction between factors inside us and outside of us. Our inherited traits, past experiences, and current circumstances all play a role in influencing how we navigate life’s challenges. Yet, it can sometimes be difficult to identify which of these factors are enhancing or hindering our ability to function at our best. The key to greater satisfaction and success lies in being aware of these internal and external factors, understanding how they influence our behavior, and learning how to regulate their impact. As a physician trained in adult, child, and adolescent psychiatry, I take a deeply individualized approach to each of my patients. I work with you to promote a healthy, psychoanalytically oriented exploration of yourself, helping you uncover the root causes of any emotional or psychological distress. By understanding these underlying factors, we can work together to create a clear path toward healing and growth In addition to working with individuals, I also collaborate closely with parents to support the emotional and psychological development of their children. Parenting can be incredibly challenging, and it’s important to approach it with insight and support. I work with families to develop highly individualized strategies that promote mental health, emotional resilience, and a more fulfilling life for everyone involved. Whether you are facing longstanding struggles or simply want to explore your thoughts and feelings more deeply, I invite you to reach out. Together, we can enhance your mental health, achieve greater emotional balance, & improve your overall satisfaction with life. I look forward to hearing from you and supporting you on your journey.

Going to college is the hugest leap you may ever take! It is the end of childhood and the beginning of adulthood, all starting with leaving everyone and everywhere you've known for 18 years and finding yourself in a new, strange place, away from your friends, your family, your pets, your school and your stuff that all gave you comfort. You have to learn how to DO college, make new friends, study for college exams, write excellent papers, focus on preparation for a lifelong career, negotiate sexual situations, plentiful drugs and booze. It is exciting and amazing and anxiety producing and overwhelming at times. Problems DO manage to follow you to college, like focus or learning issues, family dysfunction, reactions to STRESS! Therapy is helpful in being able to talk through all of these experiences and feelings, strategizing to get a better sense of control. We specialize in reducing anxiety, depression, panic disorders, social anxiety and shyness, study inhibition, relationship issues, eating disorders and STRESS! All sexual orientations and ethnicities welcomed.

Transitions: An Athletic and Life Skills Program was developed in July 1999 because of the need to educate individuals across the life span of the strategies and skills used for successful transitions in life. Individuals already possess the skills that are needed. However, they may be unaware of their own strategies and/or their skills are not fully developed. Through my counseling services and the life skills program, needs of the individual are met by utilizing individual or group counseling sessions, couples, marriage or family counseling, workshops, speaking engagements and/or group/team building exercises with all being provided with personal attention. In 2007, the company name was changed to Transitions Counseling Service and Life Skills Program. Dr. Taunya Marie Tinsley a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) will work with youth, adolescents, young adults and adults. The New London Counseling Center is a place for our community to gather, connect, and heal. We are a not-for-profit organization that is committed to promoting the emotional, relational and spiritual well-being of individuals and families. We believe in providing high quality, compassionate therapy and educational workshops to our community, regardless of one’s ability to pay. Our team of licensed clinicians bring their diverse experiences and specialties to our practice with the goal of creating a culture that promotes mental well-being and destigmatizes therapy. We acknowledge that we are all broken, and we can all benefit from professional support at one time or another. Through our community-centered approach, we intend to tear down the walls of traditional mental health delivery by meeting people where they are every day – their places of work, their gyms, their civic groups or places to volunteer – and offer free community workshops.

I myself am a first generation Jewish American woman. I have experienced some discrimination because of my religious-ethnic heritage and have the experience of being "other." This experience has enabled me to connect with people who experience "other-ness." I think most of us humans experience some form of trauma growing up, whether from hurts experienced in the family or in the larger society. Being able to talk about those hurts enables personal integration and healing. That is what my work as a therapist is about. One of the things I am aware of, for students and many others at this time in history, is the feeling of social isolation. I am offering a group for young adults to experience connected-ness. Look at my website for further information. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sometimes there comes a point in our lives when we realize that we haven't been living fully and with intention. This awareness can stem from a traumatic event, a betrayal, a stressful life transition (good or bad) or simply an aha moment. It is at this point we have a choice, continue as we always have, or do something different. Unfortunately we don't always know what that "something different" is and need help unlocking the possibilities and potential that have always been within us. Hi and welcome! My name is Jodi Silverman and I am a holistic integrative practitioner with the goal of holding safe space for your healing, learning and growth. As a fellow human and a consciousness guide, I am passionate about supporting people in their journey to find meaning, purpose and connection in life through learning to trust their own intuition. I do this through a variety of psycho-spiritual and transpersonal approaches including psychotherapy, energy healing and embodied mindfulness. Although I am trained in several evidence based treatments, I rely on intuition and the collaborative relationship between us to guide interventions and approaches.

Our work will move at your pace and center the questions that matter most to you. I’ll walk alongside you as we untangle confusion and constraints to foster greater connection, clarity, and choice. You’re the expert on your experience. My job is to help create space for your voice and to support you in honoring what it has to say. If you're ready to begin, I am currently accepting new clients and would love to connect with you.
