Therapists for college students near New York University
College a new world. Young adults often begin to experience anxiety and depression for the first time there, while some have been struggling for years. Either way, dealing with these feelings with experienced help is often the most effective way to approach emotional issues. I’ve worked with many college students on anxiety, depression, the stress of academics, social issues, family conflict, anxiety about careers, and other issues that come up out of this huge change. I help students learn to relate to themselves with curiosity and compassion, quieting that inner voice of self criticism, which will then allow a transition to change and growth. If we both think it’s helpful, I can also intervene with parents, in order to help them understand your struggles better, and have more supportive, constructive family discussions. I also teach mindfulness skills, which helps to cope with overwhelming feelings.
I specialize in supporting college students who are navigating the many transitions that come with this stage of life. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed by academic pressure, questioning your direction, adjusting to new environments, or trying to balance relationships, you don’t have to figure it out alone. My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical. I aim to create a space where you can speak openly without feeling judged or misunderstood. Together, we’ll explore what’s going on in your life, build tools to manage stress and emotions, and help you move toward the version of yourself and your life that feels most authentic and meaningful. I’m especially passionate about working with college students because I remember how complex and overwhelming that time can be. My goal is to be the kind of therapist I wish I had when I was in college; someone who truly listens, understands the challenges of transitional life experiences, and offers steady support while you figure things out at your own pace. My story starts with losing a delivery job with UPS in my early 20s because I ran over two cones during training. I needed a new direction and found my passion for helping people. I am grateful I ran over those two cones because it changed my career. Now, I have 15 years of experience as a licensed mental health professional and started Cuda Counseling (CC), where I work with an amazing team. We help individuals succeed by dialing down their inner critic and creating an inner ally. I understand that a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation of effective counseling. That's why I strive to create a warm and welcoming environment where you can freely discuss your challenges and wins. My action-oriented approach is designed to help you identify achievable measures of success, empowering you to realize your full potential. Don't hesitate to reach out if you're ready to experience inner freedom by identifying and overcoming challenging thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. Let's connect and start your journey towards more joy, better relationships, and peace. Remember, the first step is often the hardest and most rewarding.
As humans we all have experiences of feeling stuck, or overwhelmed with life, or even having a loss of direction. This is completely normal, especially in our college years. The good news is, there are some really helpful tools you can learn to navigate through these challenging times, and really discover yourself! You already have the tools within you, my role is to show you how to access them in order to move forward in your life feeling confident and in alignment with your authentic self.
Hi there, Thanks for visiting my profile! I believe that problems do not arise spontaneously, but are instead influenced by the behaviors, opinions, and connections with those around us—even those who are no longer living. My intention is to build honest and trusting relationships with each of my clients so that healthier patterns can be created and new solutions learned. Regardless of the challenges you are facing now, I am committed to helping you discover a new sense of health, happiness, and strength.
I view therapy as the process of developing a better understanding of thoughts, emotions and patterns. I utilize a person-centered therapy approach to create a warm, non-judgmental atmosphere where you can feel comfortable and safe. Through the journey of self-discovery, your needs and wants from the therapy process may change. This is why I pull from different evidence-based therapy approaches such as CBT and positive psychology to best fit with your needs at the time. I have experience working with a variety of mental health concerns. However, no two people are the same. Together we will work towards your unique goals utilizing the individual strengths you bring. Deciding to begin therapy can be scary. I will help to illuminate the process and ease your concerns. I am currently accepting new clients. I look forward to hearing from you and starting this journey together.

Hello! I am Jacqueline Treml and I've been a psychotherapist in the community for over 25 years. Although I specialize in Anxiety, OCD & Phobias, I also practice EMDR for trauma, as well as offering support around the full spectrum of issues including identity, relationships, depression, and issues around grief & loss. I have seen many students over the years who are struggling with perfectionism, self-doubt, intense anxiety and depression, and who are working out difficult relationship dynamics with family, friends, and intimate partners. I hope that by coming to therapy with me, you are offered a warm and comforting environment where we can look together at issues without judgment. I will try to offer you perspective and what wisdom I've gained over the years to help your life at Cornell be what you'd like it to be. I look forward to hearing from you.
The therapy session is a time and space one sets aside to focus on self. To be with self. And to build one’s self. It can be challenging to reflect on patterns, thoughts and emotions, relationships, past events and/or change, but it can also be transformative and rewarding. My role as your therapist is to witness your process and to reflect back with you along the way. The therapeutic relationship is an essential piece of my practice and is built on honesty, trust, empathy, and compassion. In conjunction with traditional psychotherapeutic frameworks (CBT, DBT, Gestalt, Psychodynamic), I use Expressive Arts Therapy (Movement, Drama, Music/Sound, Art) to help foster a creative process. When applied therapeutically, a creative process can help a person heal, open up to change, and may offer new feelings, thoughts, insights, and perspectives As a Dance/Movement Therapist, I specialize in using movement as a tool to identify, explore, and shift the way one relates to self, other, and the world around. I believe engaging in an integrative, body based psychotherapy process is a direct and effective path to embodied growth and transformation.

I provide psychodynamic psychotherapy in a multicultural context. I provide a compassionately insightful and culturally-sensitive space that allows you to attune to your inner wisdom, leading to contentment in personal and professional pursuits. Psychodynamic orientation is based on an insight-oriented approach of becoming aware of unconscious patterns rooted in our past that significantly impact current functioning in relationships, work, and recreation. I incorporate mindfulness meditation or relaxation techniques if the client prefers. My practice is exclusively telehealth-based, and research has shown telehealth to be very useful for treatment. I offer psychotherapy via a video HIPAA-compliant platform that protects your privacy and bars unauthorized access. Telehealth provides convenience for both the provider and client without compromising the quality of treatment. It is exciting to witness the ease of mental health access that telehealth provides. Now, you don't have to limit your therapist search to your local area but can instead extend it all over the state! I hold these qualifications: I have a doctoral degree (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from the University of Hartford, and the program is approved by American Psychological Association (APA). I completed an internship in clinical psychology, approved by the APA. I completed a formal Post-Doctoral Fellowship in college counseling. I am licensed as a Psychologist in New York state.
