Therapy is an invitation to be messy, to dive into the unknown, to shed layers and come home to your truest self and aspirations with a sense of ease and belonging. Therapy is a safe, compassionate, non-judgemental space to explore, practice and play with challenging emotions, life patterns and memories that have shaped our internal world. Terceira is a New York University trained psychotherapist that specializes in treating anxiety, depression, complex grief, trauma, identity, career and life transitions. They serve a diverse clientele that ranges across race, age, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and spiritual backgrounds. Terceira has experience serving survivors of various traumas and PTSD both globally and in New York City. They also have supervised private therapists as well as Masters of Social Work students from Columbia, NYU, Fordham, and Hunter University in their clinical studies. They blend their intersectional, trauma-informed lenses with rich somatic (body based) approaches, mindfulness techniques and EMDR (Eye Movement, Desensitization and Reprocessing) to build upon the resiliency of their clients’ healing. They believe in orchestrating a dialogue between the body and the mind for a deeper release of past sufferings to be able to be in the present. Through integrative therapy, Terceira hopes their clients find they have individual choices, agency, and empowerment in their communication, relationships, boundaries, identities, and self-worth.
Queensborough Mental Health Counseling specializes in providing comprehensive mental health services in Queens and the greater New York community. Our team of licensed therapists offer individual, couples, and group therapy to support clients in managing and overcoming a variety of mental health concerns. We are committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for our clients to work towards their personal growth and well-being. QMHC stands out from other practices through its emphasis on a psychodynamic approach to therapy. Psychodynamic therapy combines many therapeutic theories and orientations like Psychoanalysis, Adlerian therapy, Person Centered therapy, Logotherapy, Narrative therapy, Trauma informed therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). The non-adherence to any one specific orientation allows for more specialized and individually tailored treatment. This style of therapy involves guiding clients in the process of introspection and self-understanding. Facilitating personal discovery helps individuals better understand how their past experiences impact their current functioning and impower them to take more control over their life narrative. The combination of focused introspection and meaning making with practical skill development and coping tools helps individuals maintain therapeutic progress. We structure treatment in this way because we believe that knowing one's self and having the resources to confront the changes one wants to make is the key to therapeutic success.

Finding calm and clarity when your mind won’t slow down is possible. I can guide the way. We have more influence over our thoughts than we realize. In our work, you’ll learn to approach your thinking more intentionally. As your thoughts change, you’ll start to notice changes in how you feel, the choices you make, and how you move through your life. I help clients slow things down, make sense of what’s been difficult, and address the patterns that keep them feeling stuck. This often includes working through anxiety, depression, and the impact of trauma and past experiences. I also support women navigating life transitions, helping them feel more grounded and steady through change. My approach is thoughtful and practical, combining insight with tools you can use in your day-to-day life.

With an inherent ability to see the good in everyone, I have always loved connecting with people and helping them discover their internal goodness, vitality, and strengths. We’ll balance the seriousness with laughter, and you’ll start to notice changes in your mood from our first session. When not in the office, I am facilitating meditation and mindfulness workshops in schools, clinics, and the community. Weather permitting, I can be found at various parks throughout Manhattan enjoying the natural beauty, a good book, or others’ dogs. MY PROFESSIONAL TRAINING I have worked in urban and suburban public and private schools, community mental health clinics, and outpatient clinics providing therapeutic services to individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. After years in the field, I’ve honed my expertise and continue regular training in these areas: anxiety and stress reduction, relational concerns (family, romantic, peer, work relationships), college transitions, career/executive coaching, low self-esteem, and mood disorders. Grounded in my background, training, and passions, my work draws upon mindfulness, positive psychology, neuroscience, nutrition, integrative medicine, contemplative practices, and other forms of holistic health. My work allows others to navigate challenges, heal from life’s stressors, and most importantly, thrive in their lives. I offer compassionate and transformative psychotherapy to individuals 18+ throughout the lifespan, drawing upon both traditional and innovative tools to provide highly individualized and attuned support. I have expertise working with anxiety (including social anxiety), life transitions, grief, trauma, work-related stress, family conflicts, and relationship issues. I also work frequently with spirituality and religion, multicultural issues, adjustment disorder, and concerns relating to college students and recent graduates. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with nearly 15 years of professional experience. I received my undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania, majoring in Religious Studies and graduating Cum Laude. I received my Master in Social Work degree at NYU. I have a certificate in Relational Psychotherapy and utilize mindfulness-based tools like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. In addition, I have trained in IFS (Internal Family Systems) level 1 and the beginning and intermediate levels of Somatic Experiencing (a body-based approach), innovative therapeutic tools that I incorporate into my work. If a client already working with a primary therapist wishes to pursue an adjunct treatment focusing specifically on SE or IFS, I can design a therapy program to support these goals. I also provide adjunct therapy specifically targeting social anxiety. Before transitioning to private practice, I was a staff therapist at Columbia University Counseling and Psychological Services for eight years. I have extensive experience offering psychotherapy to adults of all ages, leading groups focused on creating connections and managing anxiety, and presenting virtual and in-person workshops to large audiences in professional and educational contexts. At this time, I see clients via telehealth throughout New York State and do not offer in-person sessions. Please feel free to reach out to me to discuss how I may support you.
Psychotherapy serves to help people alleviate suffering and develop the capacity for new, positive experiences. Suffering comes in various forms, including anxiety or fear, depression, family and interpersonal conflict, or poor self esteem. Often we operate based on patterns outside of our awareness that were learned in childhood and may no longer be useful to us as adults. By bringing these patterns into one's awareness, we can work to identify and explore new, desired ways of relating to oneself and one's environment. My approach to treatment is holistic and collaborative, as I tailor my practice according to the wants and needs of each individual. Through empathic listening and supportive feedback, I utilize a strengths-based approach to create a safe environment that encourages the process of both acceptance and change. We will work together to explore and understand individual changes you would like to make in order to reduce suffering, increase insight, and generally improve quality of life. Therapy is a strong investment in self, and I encourage you to contact me with any questions or issues you might like to explore.
