The Rust Wellness approach to therapy is tailoring each session to fit the needs of the client and consistently reevaluating to meet their evolving issues and concerns. We know how difficult it is to open up about mental health topics, especially with a stranger, so we strive to establish a warm and inviting atmosphere that encourages our clients to share their vulnerabilities. Trust is incredibly important in a therapist-client relationship, so we aim to create an environment that will facilitate our clients’ comfort.
Let’s be honest, going to therapy can be a little intimidating. I know what you are thinking, “what would speaking to a shrink do for me? I have so much on my mind, it will take more than a few sessions to unleash everything.” Well…I got time AND passion. I believe that as human beings living in our present society, we are conditioned to put our needs aside and we frequently forget how to take care of ourselves. As your therapist, I am strongly devoted to assisting you in tackling life challenges, managing problems, and coming out stronger than ever because YOU are capable. My approach to therapy is to use a strength based perspective, CBT and create an unapologetic space for my client. I want my client to feel they don't need to sugar coat anything in sessions because I truly believe transparency will open up my client's full potential to self-discovery and personal growth. I know taking this next step is scary AND brave. Imagine yourself opening up to possibilities you only dreamt of and finally being in control over your life and happiness. Let's work together to build that dream by tackling those negative thought distortions and create new perspectives in order to create your new reality.

Working with me is a collaborative experience. I like to think of it as a road trip. You’re in the driver’s seat. I’m in the passenger seat, helping navigate. You tell me what you’re seeing. What feels confusing. What feels overwhelming. What feels stuck. And together, we figure out where you actually want to go. Sometimes we’ll take a left into childhood, family dynamics, and old stories that shaped you. Sometimes we’ll take a right into present-day tools, boundaries, communication skills, and routines. You’re the expert in your life, what has worked, what hasn’t and what is important to you now. I bring my psych knowledge, tools, and experience with clients. When we combine these. We can get you where you want to go. People say education is power and I agree, but information alone is useless. When I use my education, it’s not to lecture, instead it’s to empower you to challenge you to integrate it. Once you understand what’s happening in your mind and body, you’re not just reacting anymore. You’re choosing. Sometimes I’ll challenge you. Sometimes you’ll challenge me. That’s part of real collaboration. When I work with someone, I’m committed to this process with you. I’ll show up fully, adapt to who you are, and push you compassionately toward growth. You don’t have to do this alone. Let’s take this road trip together.
When you make the decision to attend therapy, you are making the decision to prioritize your wellbeing in a fundamentally unique way. Therapy is something that can be challenging, but also transformative– Especially for those who have not been listened to, believed, or had the freedom to pause and practice introspection due to the demands of life. Knowing the challenges of finding a therapist who can understand your life experiences, I prioritize working with communities with whom I share personal experience. This includes, but is not limited to: LGBTQIA+, polyamorous/ENM, BDSM/kink, sex worker, SA/DV survivors, neurodivergent, chronically ill & disabled communities. My work is grounded in Relational-Cultural Therapy, which emphasizes the importance of the relationship between therapist and client as an essential part of the therapeutic process. I aim to minimize power dynamics in the room between therapist and client, and firmly believe you are the expert of your life. Rather than an authority in the room, I see my role as a collaborator in helping you achieve your therapy goals. For those who wish to know my social location: I am a Black, queer, disabled, neurodivergent, polyamorous, non-binary therapist in my 30s. I come from a middle-class background in a mixed race household, am a US citizen, and was raised Catholic but am not religious. I approach therapy as a team effort grounded in trauma-informed, anti-racist, fat liberatory, sex & kink positive, and feminist ideals. My therapy practice is eclectic, borrowing from multiple modalities in order to find the best approach for each individual client, couple, or polycule. Common approaches I incorporate include: EFT (emotion focused therapy), IFS (internal family systems), Sex Therapy, and Attachment Theory. I work with clients on a variety of topics, but special interests include: Unpacking attachment wounds using IFS; Transition stages in Poly/ENM; Freedom from shame regarding sex & kink; Impacts of disability; Relationships to health, disordered eating, and/or fatness from a fat liberatory and body neutrality lens. Our practice values authenticity, cultural humility, and inclusivity. We welcome individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, first-generation students, immigrants, and those navigating complex family, cultural, or societal dynamics. We offer both in-person sessions in Midtown Manhattan near Grand Central and telehealth appointments throughout New York. We are in-network with Aetna and Cigna and offer a generous honor-system sliding scale for students and those with other insurance plans. We also provide complimentary consultation calls to help students find the therapist who feels like the right fit. My approach integrates evidence-informed psychotherapy, mindfulness, self-compassion, nervous system regulation, parts work, and insight-oriented reflection. My goal is to help students feel safer within themselves, better able to understand their emotions, and more empowered to move toward relationships, values, and choices that support their well-being.
