Therapists for college students near 02138
I have trained in college counseling, community and hospital settings and specialize in treatment interventions tailored to the needs of college-age students. I offer a flexible approach to psychotherapy including both an appreciation for how past experiences shape the present while also incorporating coping strategies to manage and change every day life in the short-term.
I look forward to working with people who are ready to make changes in their lives and engage in the therapeutic process. Much of my sessions include discussing goal setting and thinking of various tools and techniques to achieve those goals. I utilize CBT methods, person-centered, and strengths-based approaches to help all clients realize their ability for change and understand they can achieve happiness and alleviate things like anxiety and depression.
As a clinician, I seek to develop a strong rapport with my clients to promote a collaborative treatment process. I help my clients learn more about themselves and better identify their emotional and therapeutic needs. I believe the opportunity for my clients to develop a sense of agency, and identify how to take action when faced with difficult situations, is key to self-empowerment and growth. I work with my clients to gather information about themselves and their situations, to learn to reflect on their emotions and behaviors in a nonjudgmental way, and to build their confidence to make positive decisions in their life.
PHP program Our PHP program is designed for individuals who require a structured and supportive environment while they work towards their recovery goals. This program provides a higher level of care than traditional outpatient treatment, offering a full day of therapy and support. Our experienced team of addiction specialists and mental health professionals will work closely with each client to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses their unique needs and challenges. Through a combination of evidence-based therapies, individual counseling, group therapy sessions, and holistic approaches, we aim to empower individuals to overcome addiction and build a solid foundation for lasting recovery. IOP program Our IOP program is ideal for individuals who have completed a higher level of care, such as PHP or inpatient treatment and are ready to transition to a less intensive level of support. This program offers a flexible schedule that accommodates work, school, and other responsibilities, while still providing the necessary structure and guidance for continued recovery. Clients in our IOP program will participate in individual therapy sessions, group therapy, relapse prevention education, and other therapeutic activities that promote healing and growth. At The Recovery Team Newton We understand that addiction is a complex and multifaceted disease that affects individuals physically, mentally, and emotionally. We provide a range of amenities and services to enhance the treatment experience, including comfortable living spaces, nutritious meals, recreational activities, and access to outdoor spaces. Our goal is to create an environment that promotes healing, relaxation, and personal growth. We value the importance of ongoing support and aftercare. We understand that recovery is a lifelong journey, and we are committed to providing our clients with the tools and resources they need to maintain sobriety beyond their time in our programs. Our aftercare services include relapse prevention planning, alumni support groups, individual counseling, and referrals to community resources. We strive to empower our clients to build a strong support network and continue their recovery efforts long after they have completed our programs.
I help people navigate life transitions (chosen or unchosen), grief/loss, unresolved trauma, family dysfunction and more. Therapy is tailored to each client and I draw from a variety of theoretical perspectives (insight-oriented, development of skills, relational). I am also a trauma-informed therapist with specialty training in the treatment of trauma and its impact on an individual's well-being and ability to cope. I am a solution-focused therapist who meets clients where they are at with compassion, but also help to build strategies on how to cope with life. I incorporate a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and Motivational Interviewing to help adolescents and young adults find healthy ways to work through stressors.
I provide trauma informed LGBTQIA and neurodivergent affirming therapy to young adults in person in Stoneham, Massachusetts, and virtually across all of Massachusetts. Those who work with me are often looking to better understand themselves and the world around them. I am passionate about working with the LGBTQ community, with a particular interest in assisting young adults on their self-discovery and identity journeys. I also provide neurodivergent affirming therapy to autistic adults struggling with mental health symptoms related to the challenges of fitting into a neurotypical world.
Everyone, at least once in their life, finds themselves struggling with life events that feel insurmountable or with emotions that feel outside of their control. I believe that therapy can help with that and bring out your own resilience and capacity to learn. My guiding principle is to provide an open and accepting environment where people can explore their personal experiences and reinforce their well-being. I view therapy as a collaborative process and use acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to emphasize mindfulness and self-awareness. Working together, we can identify barriers to success, maladaptive responses and strategies to help you find the change you're looking for. I enjoy working with a diverse and multicultural population of clientele. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
If you're navigating mental health challenges while trying to keep up with life, you're not alone. You might be exhausted from masking how you feel, wondering why it's so hard to focus, stay motivated, or feel truly connected to others. Maybe your mood feels unpredictable, or it's getting harder to show up for school, work, or relationships the way you want to. I work with people facing ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma, psychosis, and substance use. These experiences can shape how you think, how you relate to others, and how you feel in your own body. Therapy offers a safe space to explore what's going on beneath the surface and figure out what helps. My approach is warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental. You don't have to have everything figured out. Whether you're overwhelmed by stress, feeling stuck in patterns that don't make sense, or just trying to get through the day, I'll meet you with curiosity and respect. Together, we can build understanding, practical tools, and a path forward that feels manageable and meaningful. Therapy works best as a collaborative process. Rather than telling you what to do, I'll work alongside you to explore your experiences, identify what's getting in the way, and find tools that actually fit your life. I move at a pace that feels right for you, honoring your strengths while making space for growth and change. I also provide psychiatric care and have worked in both inpatient psychiatry and outpatient addiction medicine. Motivational interviewing has been a key part of how I support people navigating substance use, especially when they feel ready for change. Helping people recover, in whatever form that takes, brings deep meaning to my work. Throughout my career, I've supported people from many walks of life, young adults, older adults, veterans, Native American communities, and LGBTQ+ individuals. I'm passionate about addressing the growing crisis of depression, anxiety, and isolation that affects so many people today. I am easygoing and conversational. I show up as a real person, not a distant expert. Connecting with people and supporting their recovery is a privilege that continues to shape my life in meaningful ways. You don't have to figure everything out on your own. When you're ready, support is here.

Students today face a lot of pressure—academically, socially, and emotionally. You may be feeling overwhelmed, anxious, burned out, or struggling to stay focused and motivated. Sometimes past experiences or trauma can make everyday stress feel even harder to manage. I offer a supportive space to talk openly, understand what you’re going through, and learn practical tools to cope with stress, anxiety, and difficult emotions. Together, we can work toward helping you feel more balanced, confident, and supported.
My approach to therapy is grounded in narrative therapy, with the belief that how you understand and relate to your problems shapes your ability to move forward. Whether it’s depression that leaves you feeling stuck, anxiety that chips away at your confidence, or shame that strains your relationships—we'll explore how these experiences impact your life. Many of these struggles are shaped by external pressures around success, identity, and expectations. In therapy, we’ll work together to uncover what feels authentic and meaningful to you. I offer a collaborative and transparent space for healing. While rooted in narrative therapy, I integrate CBT and DBT techniques to support your growth. My experience includes depression, anxiety, trauma, substance use, life transitions, and relationship challenges. At the heart of my practice is a deep respect for your voice and values. My goal is for you to feel empowered and at the center of your healing process. If you’re feeling disconnected from yourself or your path, we can work together to help you find your way back.

Hello, What I love about my work is helping people to be and become the people they want to be. When we can look at the things that shape our lives, then we can make better choices about what to do next. That’s easier said than done. We may have to pay attention to things we weren’t aware of— or didn’t want to notice in the first place. It’s hard to change what you can’t acknowledge. Whether it’s in the private corners of your mind or the broad inequalities of society, it’s hard to look at life’s mess without the support of someone you trust. That’s where therapy comes in and how I can help.
