Therapists for college students near Georgia State University
I specialize in supporting high-achieving professionals, especially those in academia or the helping profession (doctors, nurses, therapists, pastors), who grapple with perfectionism, difficulty setting boundaries, codependency, and the challenge of prioritizing their own needs amidst the many demands of their personal and professional lives. As an immigrant, I bring a rich, cross-cultural perspective to therapy and a deep appreciation for how culture shapes identity, relationships, and mental health. Many of my clients are navigating complex intersections of cultural expectations, academic roles, and personal values. In addition to my clinical practice, I am a professor and active researcher. My academic work focuses on interpersonal trauma and its impact on relationships and meaning-making. This dual identity as both clinician and scholar informs my approach: deeply reflective, integrative, and grounded in both science and lived experience. I work exclusively via Telehealth with adult clients residing in GA, MI, and TX. I believe that meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic relationship—one that offers both safety and challenges patterns by providing direct and honest feedback. If you're ready to invest in yourself and your well-being, I invite you to reach out.

My goal is to provide a safe, empathic relationship and focused therapy to help you feel better quickly. Located near Emory and Mercer, I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, grief, relationship problems and PTSD. I also work well with adult children of alcoholics and other dysfunctional family backgrounds. I strive to help students adapt to change, increase self-worth, and clarify goals for the future. My practice is very diverse, including individuals from LGBTQ and non-majority cultural groups. I aim to work WITH clients in a manner that honors their intersecting identities. For over 20 years, I have worked mostly with young adults -- graduate and undergraduate students, new parents, and couples seeking meaningful connection. You can contact me by email (raj@rajphd.com), leave a message on my confidential voicemail (not linked to text), or visit my website at rebeccajonesphd.com. I offer a free telephone consultation so we can decide together if it makes sense to set up a first appointment. I am also available to suggest other referrals in the community.
My job is about hope. I help students struggling with anxiety, depression, or stress. These symptoms can interfere with your schoolwork and wellness. Many of my former clients tell me that they were surprised and relieved to feel so much better after therapy. They were unsure if they would ever find relief from the challenges they had. That is why I do what I do. It is a joy to share in that journey of healing. I have found the most important thing is to tailor my approach to each person's specific needs. Therapy is not one size fits all. For example, I often find expressive arts to be helpful when overcoming trauma. I also have a special place in my heart for those who struggle with eating disorders and self harm.

I am inspired to work in mental health care because I am passionate about helping individuals overcome challenges, find resilience, and achieve a better quality of life. I find it deeply rewarding to be part of my patients’ journeys toward healing and growth, and I value the opportunity to address the stigma around Mental Health and advocate for compassionate, evidence-based care. I ensure patients feel heard and understood by actively listening, reflecting their thoughts and feelings, and validating their experiences. I create a safe, non-judgmental space, pay attention to verbal and nonverbal cues, and tailor my approach to their unique needs, fostering trust and collaboration. Building trust and a strong Therapeutic Alliance with my patients begins with creating a safe, nonjudgmental, and empathetic environment where they feel heard and respected. I approach each patient with genuine curiosity about their experiences and ensure that I validate their emotions and perspectives. Consistency and reliability are key, so I strive to communicate clearly and follow through on what I say. I also prioritize transparency by explaining my thought process, treatment recommendations, and the rationale behind decisions to involve the patient in their care plan actively. Additionally, I respect their autonomy and individuality, recognizing that trust is earned over time through mutual collaboration and demonstrating my commitment to their well-being.

There are few things harder than asking for help. Sometimes people seek counseling for this help and sometimes they just want to make positive changes in their lives. I aim to build genuine and productive connections with clients, incorporating a relaxed setting and humor when appropriate. Counseling may be a hard journey, but things like trust and comfort level can create an ideal setting for growth. *I am currently taking on new clients. I am a Physician Assistant experienced in working in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry. I diagnose and help patients to manage conditions including but not limited to: anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD, sleep issues, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and much more. Through medication management, I aspire to help my patients manage their conditions as best as possible by using the least amount of medication in order to manage their symptoms. I also am familiar with over-the-counter / naturopathic approaches to mental health and how using these vitamins as adjuncts to medication can often work synergistically with psychiatric meds. I know that medications aren’t always the only method to improve your mental health, so oftentimes I refer my patients to counseling and therapy too. Originally from the state of FL, I graduated from then University of FL with my bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies before earning my PA degree from the University of South Alabama in 2020. I was recently awarded a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Psychiatry by the NCCPA.

From that information we can determine goals for therapy and if we are a good fit. I will make suggestions if I think you need in-person or other services. I work with a wide range of psychological issues, and have significant experience working with women's issues and eating disorders . Podcasts and inspirational social media inspo posts may help a little, but you are ready to engage in some authentic self care If you are feeling overwhelmed, stressed, worried, lacking confidence or motivation, having difficulties in work relationships, experiencing intimacy issues, struggling with perfectionism, or just feeling exhausted and ready to move into alignment with your highest self, I am here to help and support you! You can expect to gain new perspectives, learn new skills, release shame, and create and implement a plan that gets you out of your head and back into LOVING your best life. Let me help you prioritize your peace and pursue pleasure with ease! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, and Board Certified Life Coach, and Clinical Hypnotherapist that specializes in short-term, holistic approaches. I use approaches that are centered in liberation-focused and feminist therapies/theories which recognize there are often major systems at play (racism, anti-blackness, sexism, classism, misogynoir, capitalism to name a few) influencing how we think and feel about ourselves and our lives. Together, you and I will work to rediscover your authentic self and ways of being that are free from these systems or at the least, engaging with them on your terms. At Flourish Therapy Bar, the personal and the professional are deeply intertwined, reflecting a commitment to inclusivity, joy, sustainability, freedom, accessibility, and courage. These values are ideals and active principles that guide every aspect of our practice.
My name is Jessica Kettell and I am a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with the American Nurses Credentialing Center. I am here to help you restore your mental health and empower you to live your life to your fullest potential. Are you feeling sad or empty? Do you have trouble sleeping? Or maybe, you are so overwhelmed, anxious, or discouraged that it’s hard for you to make it through the day? You might find it hard to focus on tasks or assignments. Whatever problems you are facing right now, let’s tackle them together! You are not alone. You deserve to be happy and enjoy your life. I have completed a Fellowship Program in Functional and Integrative Psychiatry with Dr. James Greenblatt. My lifelong dream has been to make mental health care more accessible to individuals and to reduce the stigma associated with mental health treatment. Just as it is normal to seek treatment for diabetes, it should be natural to seek treatment to improve your mental health. You are a biochemically unique individual. A treatment that works well for someone, might not work best for you. That is why I use an evidence-based, whole-body, personalized approach to identify all factors that might be contributing to your mental health condition such as nutrition, lifestyle, hormones, genetics, and stress. Good nutrition and lifestyle practices are the foundation of mental wellness. I would love to support you on your mental health journey. Let’s do this together!
Just like many other life transitions, the college and university experience can bring a mix of excitement and uncertainty. College students often face challenges with decision-making, adjusting to new environments, socializing, and managing increased responsibilities. These struggles can contribute to heightened anxiety, loneliness, and symptoms of depression, making it difficult to navigate this pivotal time in life. College-related anxiety can show up in many forms, ranging from mild, everyday stress to more extreme fears. The uncertainty of the future and what happens after college can trigger deep worries, even if those concerns aren’t based on personal experiences. You’re not alone—many students share these feelings as they face the unknown. As an anxiety therapist for college students, I take a unique approach to therapy. I work with you to uncover the root causes of your anxiety, and together, we create a treatment plan that suits your needs, whether you’re seeking short-term relief or long-term support. With an integrative approach that considers both mental and physical health, I help college students address their psychological struggles from every angle. Therapy is a collaborative process, where we’ll identify your specific concerns and develop personalized coping skills and techniques to guide you through these challenging times. Together, we’ll navigate your journey to mental wellness and help you build the resilience you need to thrive.
Life can feel overwhelming sometimes. You may look like you're holding everything together on the outside while inside you feel anxious, stressed, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward. I help individuals, couples, and families with adult children untangle what's stuck beneath the surface — to feel more connected, grounded, and steady, even in the hardest moments. For over 25 years, I've worked with clients navigating anxiety, stress, grief, loss, life transitions, self-doubt, relationship struggles, communication breakdowns, premarital work, divorce, parenting challenges, empty nesting, and more. Therapy is a space to exhale and slow down — where you don't have to hold everything alone. It's a chance to feel genuinely seen, understood, and safe as you move toward meaningful change, whether individually, with your partner, or your family. Together, we get curious about the cycles, patterns, and different "parts" of you — the ones that once kept you safe, but may now be standing between you and the life, love and relationships you are longing for. My work draws on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Attachment work, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Coaching, Mindfulness, and other relational approaches — always tailored to your unique needs and goals. Throughout our work, I will unwaveringly hold your strength, possibility, and brilliance - even when you can’t see it. I love working with insightful, curious clients who are motivated for change. Feel free to contact me to schedule a complimentary consultation.
Struggling to adjust to college life? Feeling stuck? Wondering why you keep finding yourself in the same struggle, experiencing the same pain or relationship issues, yet again? Or perhaps you feel invisible or unheard, or can't find your own voice? I work with clients to explore how unresolved issues from the past impact the present. In an open and safe environment, we explore authentic feelings and lost aspects of self often censored in general society, toward greater personal insight, growth and change. An accepting and validating therapy relationship can be a key element in the healing of old wounds and opening up of new possibilities. I work primarily from a psychodynamic and relational orientation to work with the deep long-term wounds, traumas, and patterns that shape self-perceptions and influence current experiences and struggles. I will incorporate other modalities as applicable. All genders, sexual orientations, and races/ethnicities welcome. I also offer Brainspotting, a cutting edge EMDR derivative, neurobiological trauma treatment. I am intensively trained in psychoanalytic theory and practice, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples. I also bring over 25 years of corporate experience to my understanding of real world problems that clients struggle with.
We provide virtual psychotherapy services to clients that are struggling with relational issues, stress, life transitions, anxiety and depression. As culturally and ethically sensitive clinicians of color we aim to make sure that all clients feel see and heard as they are. We are currently offering reduced rate fee sessions of $25 with a student intern.
