I believe that people inherently want to move towards healing, but life is complex and things get mixed up along the way. I work to help clients move towards their most authentic & genuine selves. Within the counseling relationship, I strive to help clients feel supported & empowered so they can explore themselves, their current circumstances, past experiences, & future aspirations. I believe that people are the experts of their own lives but sometimes need a roadmap to help get back to where they want to be. One of the most powerful gifts that you can offer the world is to heal yourself & I would love to be a part of your journey. I work with clients to help them live more balanced and meaningful lives. I integrate nature therapy (including walk & talk therapy) into my work with clients & am an EMDR trained therapist. My counseling experience includes working with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship stressors, life adjustments, self-esteem, addiction & sport performance. Contact me if you are looking for an individualized & unique approach to therapy. I work collaboratively with clients to create & implement goals that resonate with the client. College is like a pressure cooker of compounding transitions. On top of demanding coursework, you are likely navigating the intense world of identity exploration. This can mean a lot of things; from the deeply personal layers of discovering your sexual orientation and gender identity, to simply figuring out who you are as an individual and what you actually want out of romantic and sexual relationships. As a queer therapist, I intimately understand the unique difficulties of navigating these shifts. I have walked this path myself, personally navigating profound changes in my own sexual orientation and gender identity, and I know how isolating it can feel to explore these core parts of yourself while trying to maintain your GPA. It is incredibly common to feel stuck in a major or career track that feels entirely wrong, paralyzed by the fear of starting over. I know that panic firsthand. I spent years working as a software developer before a season of deep introspection and counseling gave me the courage to make a massive pivot. Today, I am in a field I love deeply; one that brings me genuine passion far beyond a paycheck. If you are feeling misaligned with your current path, I offer specialized career counseling to help you cut through the external expectations, decode your true strengths, and confidently identify a professional field that actually fits your authentic self. Whether you are drowning in academic stress, untangling painful relationship patterns, processing trauma, or facing a complete directional pivot, you do not have to figure it out alone. Together, we will address the practical mechanics of stress management while diving deep into the relational dynamics that keep you stuck. I provide an encouraging, explicitly inclusive, and safe space where no topic is too messy or taboo. Your college years can feel incredibly destabilizing, but our work together will help you build the self-trust and clarity needed to step out of survival mode and into a life that is genuinely, authentically your own.

Hello, I'm Elissa. Life can be challenging, and managing relationships can sometimes feel overwhelming. But you don't have to face these difficulties alone. Feelings of loneliness, loss of purpose, distance from loved ones, and grief over lost loved ones or unfulfilled dreams are common experiences. In children, behaviors often signal underlying struggles they are facing. I utilize a client-centered, solution-focused approach, incorporating techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing. For children, I also employ play therapy, which has proven effective in addressing their unique needs. These methods help you develop new tools for your 'Life Tool Box,' empowering you to navigate life's challenges more effectively. I hold a Master's degree (MA) and am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. My areas of specialization include family relationships, children's mental and behavioral health, anxiety, depression, grief and bereavement, and trauma. With my experience and expertise, I aim to create a supportive and understanding environment where you can feel heard and validated. Working with me means embarking on a journey towards healing and growth. Whether through telehealth or in-person sessions at my Alamosa office, I am here to support you every step of the way. If you are ready to move forward, please reach out to set up an appointment. Together, we can work towards a brighter, more fulfilling future.

You might be a student who looks like you have it together but feels anxious, burned out, or disconnected underneath. Maybe the pressure of classes, relationships, or figuring out who you are is heavier than you expected. Maybe you're navigating a big transition, far from home for the first time, or just noticing that the way you've always coped isn't working anymore. In therapy, we'll slow down, get curious about what's really going on, and build skills that help you feel more like yourself. I draw from a variety of approaches — including body-based techniques, mindfulness, and talk therapy — to tailor our work to what you actually need. You don't have to have it all figured out to start. You just have to show up.

My primary therapeutic methods include Mindfulness Based, Holistic, Exposure, Narrative, Cognitive and Behavioral, Strengths Based & Solution Focused Therapies.
