Therapists for college students near Boulder, CO
Hi, I'm Salvia! I’m a licensed psychologist with extensive experience supporting college students as they navigate academic stress, relationships, past trauma, and personal growth. Some Areas I Specialize In: High-Stress Academic Programs Ph.D. programs, Law School, and other demanding fields can be overwhelming. I help students manage the stress that comes with them, including burnout, imposter syndrome, perfectionism, self-criticism, and challenging relationships with research mentors and peers. Trauma I help students explore how past experiences continue to affect them and work toward healing in a way that feels safe and empowering. Relationship Challenges Whether it’s friendships, family dynamics, or romantic relationships (monogamous and non-monogamous), I support students in navigating complex interpersonal dynamics. Climate Emotions The reality of climate change can bring up grief, anxiety, anger, and despair. I help students process these feelings and explore ways to stay engaged. My Approach to Therapy: I am committed to providing trauma-informed, multicultural-oriented, LGBTQ+ affirmative, and climate-aware therapy. My approach is holistic and evidence-based, exploring each client's concerns through a sociocultural and systemic lens. Education: I completed my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Utah, my doctoral internship at Duke University, where I worked with students in high-stress academic programs, and a postdoctoral fellowship at UC Santa Cruz, specializing in supporting students who have experienced interpersonal trauma.

Welcome to your safe space! I’m Chana, and I’m here to offer support as you navigate the unique challenges of college life. If you’re struggling with self-esteem, anxiety, depression, or relationship issues, you don’t have to face these hurdles alone. My practice is dedicated to providing a compassionate, non-judgmental environment where you can explore and address these concerns. College is an exciting yet demanding time, and it’s normal to feel overwhelmed. Together, we can work on building your self-confidence, managing stress and anxiety, and improving your relationships. Let’s work together to help you find balance, resilience, and a deeper sense of self-worth.
I believe in the power of real human connection. Everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and valued exactly as they are. My style is warm, client-centered, and grounded in curiosity. Alongside open dialogue, I use evidence-based approaches like ACT and DBT to help you manage anxiety, build stronger coping tools, and navigate life’s curveballs. I work with adults (18+) facing big transitions: starting college, figuring out who you are, exploring relationships and sexuality (including LGBTQ+ identities), or feeling stuck between worlds. As a bisexual therapist and someone who’s moved across cultures, I get what it’s like to question where you belong or how to move forward. I also support clients dealing with health challenges, athletic injuries, sexual health, chronic illness, eating disorders, and body image concerns. Outside of therapy, you’ll find me adventuring in the mountains. I see therapy a lot like a tough hike: challenging, sometimes uncomfortable, but deeply rewarding. I’m honored to walk alongside you as you find your own path.

As a Stanford trained psychologist, I combine insight-oriented with skill-based therapy approaches to help young adults and adults with anxiety, depression, and obsessive-compulsive symptoms find their way back to a fulfilling life. Do you feel sad and down for no apparent reason? Do you feel all alone and as though nobody understands you or sees your pain? Do you tend to overthink things? Do uncertainties of life scare you or do you feel like you need to control your environment to feel safe. You are not alone. Through my ability to read between the lines, I can see you and help you better understand yourself. We will work through subconscious challenges that interfere with your joy in life, growth, and path to healing. I also specialize in working with individuals and their family who struggle with the diagnosis of cancer or other medical conditions. I will help you find ways to cope with fear, loss and uncertainty related to your condition and make sense of your situation productively. Let's work together to help you thrive with your disease. PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT: In addition to therapy, I provide a variety of psychological assessment services, including mental health evaluations for adults in legal proceedings (civil and criminal); psychodiagnostic evaluations to inform treatment and clarify diagnostics; and neurocognitive assessments. My clients are smart, self-aware people who've been managing a lot on their own for a long time — and they're tired. They want to stop overthinking everything, feel more solid in their relationships, and figure out who they actually are underneath the performance. A lot of them are queer, neurodivergent, or both, and they're done explaining the basics to their therapist. They want someone direct, who notices patterns, and who won't let them stay comfortable when they're ready for something different. I'm a clinical psychologist. I work with attachment, identity, and the ways people get stuck trying to hold it all together. My style is warm but direct — I'll give you real feedback, not just nod and reflect. We use what works, and go at the pace your nervous system can handle. If you want an authentic therapist who's honest with you, helps you build skills that work outside the room, and actually tracks whether things are getting better — reach out. We'll figure out what matters and go from there.

My goal is for you to feel more like yourself again. I look forward to hearing from you.

I spent much of my adult life working in Emergency Medicine as a Paramedic before going to the Physician Assistant program at Loma Linda University in Southern California. After graduating from there in 2018, I spent the past five years working in addiction medicine in a residential treatment program in Boulder, Colorado. Working in addiction medicine, I commonly assisted adult patients, of all ages, dealing with anxiety, depression, cravings, withdrawal symptoms and sleep challenges. Patients would often come to me wanting to reduce their amount of medications to just what was helpful and necessary and I would take a lot of pride in helping them achieve that goal. Genetic testing provides a helpful tool to initially choose, change or adjust a dose of a particular medication. I believe that it is important to meet an individual where they are in the healing process and to address the whole person rather than just the presenting problem or symptom. To address the “whole person” requires getting a detailed history and a partnership between patient and provider. Establishing such a partnership gives me great joy.
